Who we were:

Environmental Action Barrie has existed for over 20 years to bring the people of Barrie and surrounding communities together to learn about environmental issues, and to change habits in favour of environmentally – friendlier practices.

What we are now:

Strategic planning, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, allowed EAB to evaluate its mission and create realistic objectives to reach the mission goals. By changing our focus from a physical office to a dynamic, new technology website that can be changed every day by members of the board, the mission of reaching the community with usable environmental information and activities can be achieved in a much more efficient manner.

Why:

The population of Barrie (and surrounding areas) is exploding.  New families, old families and businesses have asked to learn about the environment and how they can keep their footprint small, and keep their community sustainable.

Children growing up in Barrie need to have access to environmental activities and learning that the current curriculum does not provide. The community leaders of tomorrow need to be taught how to preserve their environment.

This is why “EAB” has become Environmental Action Barrie-Living Green, website based, but more vibrant and valuable than ever.
